Halloween Music, anyone?
I know I only have mere moments to get this in before it's no longer timely, so I'll just rush through a quick list of what I feel to be excellent Halloween music. Top of the list is:
- 1. Tom Waits, Bone Machine. This whole album is classic Halloween music in mood and tone. Classics such as "Earth Died Screaming", "Dirt In The Ground", and "Murder In The Red Barn" are perfect for making any mood instantly spooky. And besides, it has the original "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" on it, which may not scream out Halloween, but is an excellent song anyways.
- The Cure, "Lullaby".
- Joy Division, "Dead Souls". Also, the excellent Nine Inch Nails cover of this.
- Dave Edmunds, "Creature From The Black Lagoon" Cliched, I realize, but still great for the day.
- Warren Zevon, "Werewolves Of London". See note for #4.
- Bobby "Boris" Pickett, "Monster Mash". Yes, cliched, but so what?
- The Who, "Boris The Spider"
- Quasar Wut Wut, "Thankful Hank and the Guzzard". Deliciously mysterious, perfect for the day.
- Lou Reed, "Halloween Parade". Yes, of course I know what it's about, but titularly it's appropriate. And of course,
- Ministry, "Every Day Is Halloween".
